Title: Windshields
Post by: franknsr on December 22, 2018, 10:29:26 AM
I have a Kawasaki windscreen on my X right now and would love to get the correct EH screen on there. Went to Cee Baileys to order the plastic only and they are out of the MC business and are concentrating on their aviation business.

Now I've got it in my head to make my own, but I need a pattern. I was trying to look at pictures and come up with a pattern but this has proven to be a difficult task. Does anyone here have an old windshield that is battered, scratched, or even broken that they are willing to part with? If so, PM me and let me know what you want for it.

Atlantic has made arrangements with someone else to get the plastic parts made. Marty was out of them a few weeks ago but had more on order.

Do you have the factory hardware?

Thanks for the info. No factory hardware, hoping I could use some of the pieces I had. If not I'm pretty sure I can make them.

I was just looking at the mounts yesterday, pondering what it would take to reproduce those pieces and make a run of them. Based on stories I’ve heard recently from other owners and fixers, the price of chrome has gotten stupid.

If the prices I’m hearing are representative, it might actually cost $250-300 just to rechrome windshield hardware somebody already has. That wouldn’t even begin to cover the cost of making all the pieces again. If that’s true, a reproduction windshield kit would have to sell for $500+ today.

Bruce, aren’t you running a Wind Vest on your bike? How do you like it?

I'm running an HD reproduction for their FXDC (mid 90's Dyna Convertible) made by Rifle.  I used the Harley hardware except for the mounts to the EH fork.  I see Rifle makes the hardware too.

The Windvest is a good alternative.... I have an old Windshield, but the shipping is costly...

Our 2 X's run wind vests....
We really like them.
Small, quasi sporty, actually deflect wind, with a good customlook
