Does anyone have a cross reference for the rear brake light switch or a repair process?
-
Hey Norm,
Sorry for the slow reply. The rear brake light switch is located on the left side of the bike, behind the left side of the engine, on the brake line. It's a pressure switch so changing it will involve swapping it then bleeding the rear brake. Pretty straightforward.
I don't know a part interchange with another bike, though I'm sure it's common to others. Have you tried Marty and Jamie? They probably have it. If not, you might try the Harley brake light switch. I just did a casual search of ebay for Harley rear brake switch and the results look to be the same or similar.

Same switch as a lot of Harleys....

Thanks for your input.
Another part number appears similar, but I can't confirm
ACCEL (ACC 181101) Stoplight Switch

Purchased the Napa/Echlin part. Physically identical, but came with a paper that said "not approved for use with silicone brake fluids"
Now...how do you swap it out? I can see it, got the wires off, but virtually no room for tools! I know a 1" socket fits, but little else. Hints appreciated

NAPA part # SL147 is a direct replacement for E-H part #1799-0063 rear brake light switch. We still have a few of the OEM in stock.
Before replacing the switch you might try flushing and bleeding the rear brakes, as often a gas bubble will develop under the switch due to DOT5 brake fluids' inability to absorb water.
