Gale Mellum was among the first and also a longtime advisor and general legal counsel for the company...he was a partner with Faegre & Benson.
He was involved with all of our financing transactions, board level activity, and strategic planning of the business...he made sure everything was "by-the-book"....there was no correct way to do the wrong thing.
I worked with him on nearly a daily basis, so got to know him well...good times and not so good...if he ever had a bad day I didn't know it.
Brilliant, soft spoken man. Quiet, but when he spoke, you listened. Great problem solver...calm under fire. Great negotiator.
Became involved in 1993 up to the bankruptcy.
When our first round of financing stalled under $500k, he/his partners put in some $$ to close our first round of investment...how do you ever forget that?
Provided very sound advice...I should have taken some more on a few items!!!
We continued to meet over the years to discuss life, new business, etc...was a good life mentor to me.
Great man, but his battle here on earth is now over.
