Title: Turn signals & horn
Post by: boomer on May 19, 2013, 12:46:35 AM
I have #91. It went down on the RH side before I bought it. I began replacing parts starting with the turn signals. So now both of the signal lights on the RH side have been replaced & they work (I tested them). However while the ones on the LH side work perfectly. The RH ones do nothing & the horn doesn't work. I followed wires for 4 hours one night and checked things with a test light. I see nothing obvious. there is no power to the back of the bike. It behaves like something is wrong with the switch, but I see no broken solder or wires in the switch.

Any one have any advice? Where are common places where the wires rub and break coming from the blinker switch?

The turn signal controller is under the tank towards the front. Box looking item that is zip tied to the frames.
I'm picking up from your limited info, that you may not have a schematic in front of you. I strongly reccomend you get a hold of it.

http://www.excelsiorhenderson.com/pages/tech/pdf/EH_Super_X_Wiring_Schematic_X.pdf.  Heres the link located on this site...

Of the few X's that I've worked on..... I've only seen one where the wires were real tight by the steering shaft  under the triple tree. May be worth the look there.

Please let us know if you need more help..

And my best advice until I hear back, would be pull the tank an seat, check ALL the connectors.... Sometimes they look good, but just need to be clicked/pushed.
I'd suspect that with a RH slide some connectors probably got stretched....
