Title: #439 "Parts Bike"
Post by: sdhow on June 22, 2014, 01:33:44 AM
439 just sold down in Marietta, GA at Hellbender H-D.  Originally came from the Columbia, SC dealer; supposedly never registered, but raped of some parts over time.  Listed missing parts was not complete, as I could see items missing that were not listed in the ad:

http://www.hellbenderhd.com/default.asp?page=xInventoryDetail&id=459144&p=1&s=Year&d=D

Did someone on here "save" this bike?

Bob, did he say what it sold for?  I talked to someone named "Becca"...really snotty once she learned it was sold and there was no commish to be had.  Wouldn't tell me sh!t, other than it was sold by another salesperson.

Yeah, there's more missing there than what was told you by the dealer.  Did you buy it "sight unseen"?

You have a key blank?  I'd buy it if you do, so I can have a spare.   I might end up with a 2nd X as I'm sure I'll be too terrified to get my Jennie dirty this season.

Chad I don't that you can do much with a blank. I'm no locksmith, but I was told, if you don't have the tag that came with the keys you are outta luck..

I inquired about the whole key lock situation quite a bit. (Jamie can correct me if I'm wrong). The keys and cylinders that were originally used were an obscure design, and there was one guy that still had the equipment to make keys and cylinders. However, he retired so the technology seems to have been lost. Not sure what happened to the equipment. Get a hold of Jamie and Marty, they have some good solutions to the key issue. I for one, have converted both my Xs to a Harley type barrel key lock (I posted the conversion on this site) and have been quite happy with the results. Of course, that does take away from the originality of the bikes. But it does make for a more user friendly daily-rider.
