Title: Grips
Post by: brixtonanimal on August 05, 2015, 04:24:34 PM
Does anybody know what grips will work on our bikes? I assume it is just the standard Harley set, but better to check it out. Mine have both torn on the ends and I am reluctant to use the OEM ones again as I would consider a metal set. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

From what I remember, our bars are 7/8".  HD bars are 1".  Look for grips that fit Kawasaki and Yamaha cruiser models.

Hmmm...no...I'm in the middle of putting a set of Atlantic's reproduction grips on Jennie. I just checked the left bar with my hyper-accurate, laser-certified Harbor Freight digital caliper. It said 0.9975. I'll call that close enough to one inch to round up.

I have brand new, OEM grips that I compared side-by-side with Atlantic's reproductions and they are indistinguishable. The rubber was slightly different but, anybody who has dealt with rubber compounds knows they can vary even batch to batch. Awesome grips--especially for the price.

If you're not wanting to go that way, I have some nice Performance Machine billet grips on one of my Buells that I like very much (also 1" handlebars). I have the black anodized ones but, this is the chrome version. The grip is a diamond-knurl pattern but is actually rubber. The lack of big blocks or other shapes makes them very comfortable, though the rubber is thin (not much cushioning--you're pretty much gripping rubber-coated metal).
