Title: Newbie needs advice on shipping bike to Atlantic EH for Upgrade
Post by: johnrschaefer on September 21, 2016, 02:38:47 PM
Howdy. I live in Minnesota and just purchased a green Super X that has been uncrated since 2009, but never started. I want to send it down to Atlantic EH this fall for Upgrade and fuel system overhaul, new tires, etc., but would appreciate any advice forum members could lend me regarding choice of reliable, careful and economical shippers. An alternative would be to buy/rent closed trailer and haul it 1200 miles myself, so am also wondering if there might be any parties thinking of sending their bikes down to VA and interested in sharing the cost of transport? Am very excited about learning more about the Super X, the Forum and it's members. Thanks to all who have set up and contribute to this Forum in advance.

Pretty sure buddy Jeff Brown went to shipping.com...
Shippers will bid on your "package"....
Just realize the cheapest will probably not be the quickest...
Be patient

And I'm sure there are many other sites...

I have used Uship in the past with good results. Since the shippers are rated by the customers, they want to do a good job.

yeah, used Uship in the past, just check the bidders feedback and make sure they are equipped to handle bikes!
Oh.... and make sure they give you a collection and delivery window........ one guy bid to deliver one of my bikes and on checking with him it would have been on the back of his truck for almost 2 months before he was intending to deliver it!

I've used U-Ship a few times... Good results and a fair deal... I'm always flexible with delivery times for a better price. And check the feedback... Sometimes a higher price is worth the less of a hassle...

Thanks to all who replied. I have re-posted on Uship after not receiving any bids the first three days. I will definitely make sure they are experienced with bikes, have good feedback and timely delivery window. Will check with shipping.com and others. Thanks again.

I found HaulBikes.com on-line by googling. They have a Fall Special going on right now-$450 anywhere to anywhere. I paid an additional $50 for $0 deductible vs standard $500. When I informed Atlantic EH of my choice, Marty said that they handle the shipping of HDs from Milwaukee as well as several Super X to Atlantic, always with good result. HaulBikes.com said they expected pickup within a week and drop-off within two week. I received no bids after a week on U-ship. I'll keep you posted.
