So I've known some owners who haven't had the best of luck with the Xtwin, but I'm not sure they treated them appropriately.
My own 0307 bike when serviced for transmission upgrade by myself, was noted to have probably 1/2 tablespoon of aluminum debris in the oil sump. I did verify it was a factory demonstrator build, so maybe it had a rough life. It had an oil cooler on it when I purchased it with about 6500 mi.
This fall at the cannonball run rest day in Dodge City, Ks it was very encouraging to see more than one Xtwin with 35k miles with no major issues.
So who out there has racked up the most miles without opening up the top end of entire engine?

Rich (Blackheart),
Before I get onto this, I wish to say again, it was great meeting you at the cannonball.
525 as just over 36k miles, but I did pull the rear head down to the case, because of a leaky head gasket. There was another issue once I got to that point, but it had nothing to do with wear and tear but assembly that was taken care of.
Dennis Bennets DWS, also at he cannonball, has twin milage to mine, has never seen opened. His is unusual due to he runs an oil cooler only(no fan) and a very old tune, with no real problems.
And as everyone knows, Dennis doesn't own a trailer Queen, he rides it.
I've heard Chuck baraness (sp?) X is pretty hi milage, and the last I heard Mac who hosts one of the X gatherings in south dakota has a lot of miles.
I know there are many more, and hope theypost here... in the past, on the Yahoo site, this has been reported before. It's very interesting, and I'd like to see an update, for the new owners.

Bruce: Yes, your bike & Dennis's were the reference bikes I know which have as decent amount of miles.
I know from a fellow at work who has one whom new Chris West, reported Chris had some pretty serious trouble related to valve seats coming loose and possibly more....not totally sure.
I sure hope to get some bags on mine so I can commute with it. Its fun to ride, shifts great, & isn't just another v twin..... Until such time mine will not accumulate too many miles. If I got serious about it I can log some miles by commuting with it.

If I remember correctly, when I attended the Super X rally in 2012, Chuck Barsness had 60K trouble free miles on his bike. I'll ask him.

Chuck's bike finally burned a stator at over 60,000 miles two PCRC rallies ago. He has a HUGE cooler on it though. I don't know what tune he has.

60,000 miles, eh? Challenge accepted.
