I rode #2016 to a track day event to get PR for ABATE yesterday morning. On the way out, my bike started having a hard time idling. I was almost to the track and she was running fine otherwise, so I decided to check into it when I got home.
Leaving the track, I got just a mile or two down the road and the engine started backfiring and bucking around. I pulled over when it was safe and discovered that the coil had come off the plug on the front cylinder. I snapped it back in place and all was well the rest of the trip and again today on my way to work.
I did have the coils off recently while replacing the upper valve cover gaskets and installing the safety wired screws for the lower valve cover, so it's possible I didn't snap the coil down all of the way.
A twin sure doesn't run well as a single.

Ha, yea, that will do it. If (when) I break down the first thing that always comes to mind is the last thing I touched.
