Not sure what was posted on Facebook on this ride/event... So I'll make a poke at it here.
We had I believe 17 X's show up. With 26 folks over all? I don't know why, but this event for me was a really good time, more so than others. I do not mean to down play the other events I've attended, but this one sticks out.
Got to see some great old friends, and made some new ones. Ernie out of Iowa, and Frank and his Wife. Old Bob and Evil Bob with their posse showed up here and there all weekend.... nice to see them again.
Evening social gathering were great all 3 nights. The Motel, really fit us ergonomically. They even had a fire pit that they lit for us 2 nights. 3rd night too wet....
Thursday's supper was furnished by Mike Locklear... so very kind of a gesture. We passed a hat. Large assortments of meats and salads, with some side dishes.
Fridays ride was run by local Tyler. A very nice ride, on some very nice roads. Cool sites to see. Our lunch date dropped the ball on us, but Tyler found us another place, that was quite frankly some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Wisconsin.... who knew.
Notice, how I keep bringing up food?.....
Meal that night was furnished by the club.... another nice gesture. Taco night.... with ALL the trimmings!!
Saturdays ride looked gloomy and wet, especially on the radar. But the Ride went very well actually. Didn't get wet until the last 6 miles or so. Coming from NebraXi, this ride was a dandy, as it was nice and cool.
Club had reserved us a place to have supper Saturday night, but the social hour got the best of us. We all just ended up having left overs from the previous 2 nights at the motel, which in its self wasn't bad at all.
Until 8ish oclock rolled around. Frank Nowaczyk and his Wife showed up with a mini van full of pizzas, and a case of beer. And as we tend to know, its always beer 30..... Thanx again Frank!!
A special event took place Saturday evening. Jamie Jones took the floor, and made an official announcement. Jamie and Marti are idling down in the X community. They are not quitting, but slowing down into retirement. Lovely (Mom)Marti is having some health issues, which will be taking up more of Jamies time. I know Jamie will continue working on X's, but most likely not as many, and they will not be dealing with parts anymore.
This announcement was the passing of the guard in a sense. With Jamies blessing, Mike and Sandy Seastrom will now be handling ALL parts, and are eager to start working on X's.
Mike and Sandy have purchased ALL of the parts. Note to repeat....ALL of the parts. You can find these parts at EHparts.net. I've ordered a few from them since they have gotten organized, and I've been very pleased with the service. But I will miss my lengthy calls with Marti.
Anyone who knows me, knows I'm the worst guy to remember names.... if I punished your name above, or if I missed mentioning you.... please forgive me. it really doesn't make your presents any less, it just shows I'm an idiot. Great seeing everyone, and catching up.
