Injectors not working
« on: December 01, 2017, 03:42:48 PM »
I just recently got a 1999 superX. It would not start up and the previous owner said that it had been sitting for about two to three years. I changed the pump out as it was not working and had the injectors cleaned. The pump has 54 psi of pressure so pressure is not the issue. I can get her running with starting fluid sprayed into the throttle body but it seems like the injectors are not working. Any ideas??? I want this bike on the road soon.

Welcome to the community!!
I'll go this way first..
Did you clean the tank real good? The OEM liner does not hold up to ethanol very well at all. Also if it sat with ethsnol in it that long, it will stratify and cause rust issues.
Did you put a new fuel line on or clean it. This also goes for the fuel rail.
If you didn't do any of this, it's very possible you just plugged up the injectors again.
Next would be to test the injectors, and test the electrical connection from the computer while cranking...
Do all this, come on back.... And we'll go further

Tank is clean and new gas. Replaced fuel line with new hose and totally cleaned fuel rail. I am replacing the injector seals and have cleaned all of the other sensors as well. I wll go through the entire process again when I replace the seals.
What is the Voltage supposed to be from the connectors? what's the best way t test them?

I put 12volts to them and spray thru.....
Then you can do again when wired to plug...
Have some one crank, and someone spray..
Messy, but quick..

by spray...
I mean carb cleaner, or what ever your choice is to help clean them out as you test....

for further details on how to do this.....

take some caution, as to your fluid of choice.... could be flammable issue depending on fluid (sparks and 12volts)
