Cannonball report from Dodge City Kansas
« on: September 21, 2016, 03:02:36 PM »
Our little caravan of X's made it to Dodge City to see the sites.
We had 5 X's and 7 Owners present for the best yet Cannonball in the midwest 48 Hour layover.
Myself on 525 (black 99) Wavelry, Devin Nielsen (blue 2000) Lincoln, Jeff Brown (2000 Tribute X)Lincoln, Tim Dworak (G/O 99)Seward, and Dennis Bennet (DWS)Huron South Dakota.
Owners present, David Wright out of Sidney NebraXi, and Rich Orth (blackheart) out of St. Joseph Missou.
2 more other breeds came along, just to enjoy our joyous nature... Greg Mall out of Palmyra, and Tom Dworak out of Seward.

385 mile one way trip.... plenty of scorching sun and bugs for everyone. Greg Malls Pacifica Coast lost its battery second to last stop. And we rolled just in time to Dodge City for Dennis to set up AMA and AMCA table and tent, as he was doing volunteer work for these folks. Site for finish was Boot hill, interesting place to hold this, but maybe not quite big enough. Depends on how you looked at it.

We had determined before trip that everything was going to be within walking distance of the Motel.... nope!
But we did luck out and had about a dozen teams in our hotel and parking lot. Enough to keep us well entertained.
Harley Dealer was open sunday just for the event, .... honestly wanted to help anyone any way they could help.... and they did, Greg Mall got his battery, when the opened the Honda store next door to get him one.
Other site packed with teams was on the west side of town at the casino. Again amazing as its always been.... complete tear downs in a parking lot, usually with limited tools. Very hot and sunny, but I'm old, and survived. First time that I've noticed big corporate money involved with these teams, right next to Mom and Pop teams. And still everyone wanting to help what they could each other...

Jeff Brown lost his drive belt in the parking lot of the casino as we were leaving.... and we are all still trying to figure out why/how that happened. But we got him Trailered home in one piece, due to good luck of Greg being from Kansas.

Our hotel by all signs of luck .... was the monday morning launch site. This is my 3rd Cannonball, and the first time I've seen a launch. I cannot describe and give it, its due.... more than words. Amazing.

Dennis had the big route.... 1400+ miles Home/my house/Dodge City/Home... without a hitch.

Devins first big bike trip..... couldn't wipe the smile off of his face the whole time, even when his butt hurt.

We are all pretty much ready and still packed for 2018....

If anyone wishes to try and post my pictures, let me know.... all I know, my pictures in my itty bitty phone are Too Big.....
