Max,
as I don't know your skills, but you are asking.... that tells me you have at least some skills..
So I'll treat this as such...
Pull your gauge pod.... 2 !/2" bolts on top.... as you remove pod, you'll notice an electrical connector... disconnect there...
The tank will have a seat bolt under the seat, so remove that... and on the front of the tank will be 2 more 1/2 " bolts......
lift the tank up from the rear, and set a piece of 1X or 2X piece of wood under the rear of the tank.... be sure to watch extra careful about the front of the tank hitting the triple tree and chipping the paint. I like to set a towel or rag in there just so I don't pinch....
When tank is lifted... look underneath... on the left side will be a fuel line from the fuel pump to the fuel rail.... disconnect it.... I usually disconnect from fuel rail...
Also on the left side is the wires for the fuel pump.... trace them out to the connector.... disconnect...
On the left side there will also be the "over flow" pipe for the tank.... if you have everything disconnected, that pipe should just slide free when you lift the tank...
On the right side is some wires for the sending unit... same story... Now you can lift the tank completely off...
place tank upside down on a pile of shop towels or anything that will protect the surface.... The fuel pump will have a big snap ring.... remove that.... and then you can pull the pump... dirty and crude? .... put a bolt in the threaded hole of the pump..... then grab your 1X and lay it on the edge of the pump mount so you can pry against it, with pliers pulling on that bolt..... it usually comes out easy enough... there is a special tool for this, and many of us X owners have made one.... pliers, pry bar also work.
Anything you want replaced you can get at superxparts.com They have the fuel pumps in I believe now... and they should have "rebuilt" injectors for exchange on the shelf....
Call Marty, she'll get you set up...
