cross reference list
« on: March 14, 2017, 01:45:52 PM »
well... here we are half way thru March, when I received an email that pretty much reminded me that I hadn't put up my monthly beggars request...

The current cross reference list on this site is not correct for all the parts. I would like each of you that read this page daily to go to that cross reference list, and see what you have tried.

I want to know exactly what you tried, and if it DID work or if it DIDNT work.

I'm also creating for the reference list any parts that are new that isn't on the list and do work. Please keep your imagination to parts that will keep the X running. At a later date perhaps we can create a list for customizing/convenience/ergonomics.
We want stuff on the list, that if you were broke down will possibly help get you back up and running...

thanx all.... I have recieved little bits and pieces here an there each month I've asked. Please keep it up...

I wish to get all this information all together by june... july at the latest... so we can post a new list...

Hey Bruce... Seems like the Triumph CPS  that people reference will work, it just has a wire on it that still will plug in to our plug... I seem to remember checking this when I was in Belle Plaine at the Triumph/Yamaha dealer... Otto was the owner...

Ok Kids.... my last time harping on the cross over parts list....
July is my set date to compile what we know works...

DO KNOW OF ANY PARTS that are not OEM that work on our X's in a pinch?
These would be parts that are pretty much a bolt on. Anyone can probably rig a garbage can onto any bike out there if needed....
I'm looking for parts that are true cross overs...   for example,.... oil filter on a 2300 ford I4 will spin right on. Brake lite switch off of a honda will bolt right on. ETC.

AND..... have anyone used any Triumph electrical parts that worked. (Alan Mayes says a certain Triumph oil filter is a straight up swap). I'm looking for injectors, ECU, AIC, etc. ... if you have used any of these on your X with success... please let me know...

Thanx!

Bruce, while not a bolt on.... ya have to splice three wires,  but the compufire 55402 voltage regulator is a bolt on to existing and will save from burning up stator as it unloads and loads it via circuitry instead of having it run full current in the stator at all times shunting excess power to ground.  Made in USA too

good to hear from you Rich....
Jim Turek also sent me a voltage regulator that had to splice the 3 leads.... but bolted right up.
He also commented that he never has a slow crank to start any more as it regulates a higher voltage to the battery to charge.
I'm sure we have all witnessed the slow cool morning starts with 20/50,.... Jim doesn't have that any more.
As I don't know a lot about voltage regulators (for example, yours sounds like its the latest tech, compared to shunting)....  I don't know if Jims works the same way...
Jims is from Ricks Motorsports Electrics. part #10-815

I'll be sure to get yours onto the updated crossreference list...
thanx Rich...

Since we're talking regulators, I used a Shindengen SH775 on #2016.  3 wire splice and drilled 2 new holes in the stock bracket to mount it.

On the compufire i didn't have to drill new holes & for mine I actually put new ends on the stator wiring to allow direct plug in to stator so there was no "splice".  I think it was around $150

I can now say without a doubt that the Honda front brake light switch works.  :)
