Chrome Switch Housings

   I had been told at one point that Indian used the same switches as our bikes, but with chrome covers. I finally had a chance to verify that the other day when I had a close look at a 2010 Indian Chief. The switches appear identical except for the chrome. I would imagine the electrical connections inside are the same as well. If I can find a set, I'll get them and put them on 741 and let everyone know.

Since you seem to be going down the chrome path, I'll share a tidbit I discovered all the way back in 2000. Our master cylinders are Nissin--same as lots of Japanese bikes. The caps are the same size as many Japanese models, including the 1984-1987 Honda Goldwing.

Drag Specialties used to make a very nice, tiered, plain chrome cap for those models (no emblems or anything else). I have them on 1525.

I've recently tried to see if Drag Specialties still sells that model and come up dry. If you want chrome, you might call them and see if they're still available. Part number: DS-373761

Just a follow-up to my previous post: there do seem to be a couple of companies still making chrome master cylinder covers for the 1984-1987 Gold Wings. Thanks to Ebay's stupid fuzzy-searching, it shows some inappropriate, GL1500 and 1800 caps in this search:

If you stick to the ones for the 84-87 models (pretty easy to identify), they should fit fine. A couple of them listed as of this posting have emblems that can be omitted for just a bare, chrome cap.

   I just found a set of switches on eBay for a 2000 model year and they are NOT the same as ours. These look more like Harley switches, with the turn signal buttons on either side.
   The ones that I saw that matched were on a 2010 model year Indian, so be sure you have a later model before making any purchases.

You are correct Mike those 2000 and others around those years are generic HD switches. Only the new Indians (north caroline - Iowa) ones are like ours.
The "Gilmore" Indians although very attractive in my tastes... were basically parts built.

I like the new ones much better

I just came across another bike that appears to have the same switches, but in chrome. I'm going to purchase them if I can to see if they will work. Yep, you guessed it.....a Yamaha. It seems that Yamaha and EH were purchasing parts from some of the same manufacturers at the time.

but their vendor also built our tranny's..... Venture/Vmax
