Uni - Oil Breather Filter

So I found that there is a oil breather hose going to the back
of the fender by the rear light assembly ..

OIL EVERYWHERE UNDER THE FENDER !
* Anyone think this is a bad idea ? *

Thinking of moving it .. anyone else move theirs ?
And were did you put it ?

   I know it's a bit messy, but that's actually the best place to route the oil breather hose. Originally it was routed to the air intake system, but tended to foul up the throttle body. When most owners upgraded their air cleaner and intake brackets, they re-routed the hose away. Some simply routed it to the frame below the transmission, but that led to oil getting all over the back wheel and brake. (I know, both my X's were that way when I got them). At the advice of other owners, I have since re-routed to the rear fender where any oil puked out will do the least damage.
   If you have another idea, I'm sure the X owners will be all ears!

As for the filter you have there in the picture Eric.....   Some of us owners have found some really nice chrome ones.....
It looks great, but for actual applications it doesn't do anything. If you X is going to puke.. this filter isn't going to stop any mess.
All 3 of ours have Some oil on the inside of the rear fender. It doesnt drip... But if you were to wipe your hand in there... Well, it'd be pretty dirty.

If you have oil dripping off of your fender, ... Maybe too much oil in crank case. DO NOT put a full 4 quarts in our X. Most I have worked, are usually 3 quarts and around 5 oz.

And lastly. Do you know the dip stick dance all of us X ownershsve to know?

I routed mine under the battery box and along the left side of the swing arm, past the brake.  I then put on a 90 degree turn so if it pukes anything, it'll puke away from the bike.

I don't have a pic right now.  I'll take one when I remember.

That works nicely, however when it's in the fender it doesn't show. And Bruce is right, as long as it keeps oil from getting all over the brakes! When mine were exiting at the transmission, I was constantly cleaning the brakes and rear wheel. Now I only occasionally have to clean the rear fender.
