The OEM tune and the examinator
« on: July 11, 2015, 03:17:40 PM »
This is my second post after many years.  I did not realize that I had locked the earlier post.  I now realize that the Examinator cannot be used to fine tune the tune that is on my bike.  It is the most recent tune loaded by Atlantic LLC, but it is not close to being as good as the tune it replaced.  I cannot go backwards to the earlier tune, but I need to make adjustments.  How many options do I have?  I am in St. Louis and would rather not haul the bike to Minneapolis or Virginia, but I will if that is the only alternative.

Thanks
Bil

You just need to find someone that has the superXtune program in a computer... hopefully someone close.
Just a side note.... if your bike isn't running right with the new tune.... check all of your bolts/studs on the intake/air cleaner/throttle body. I personally have been finding loose bolts and studs after a period of time. Ed Hatter (Omaha) just found out his were all loose also.
He had tried a new tune and his bike didn't like it, so he put the OEM tune back in. After he found the loose intake.... he tightened, and his X took the new tune....

Were they just loose by default, or had they shaken loose over many miles?   I need to check mine out when I get back home.  Which should be around the first week of August now.

Thanks, I did take the throttle body off and reassembled and still no difference.  A key point is that the bike was really running pretty well and quite cool with almost no vibration before I put on the new tune-- so I will look for someone with the superXtune.  Is there anyone within 300 miles of St Louis?

thanx Jumper for the thoughts...

This is an all out call for anyone within 300 miles of St. Louis. If you are an X owner, and have the superXtune....   can you help?

My guess is, you still have a vacuum leak somewhere around the intake.  The 8352 tune should be the one you run.  How many of the updates have you done?  Did you just send the ECU to Jamie and have the tune uploaded or have you made all the required upgrades?

been exchanging emails with Jamie with this issue Bill.

I personally have never had to make any tweaks or adjustments on the 8352 tune. And to be frank I thought I was just lucky. I do not know enough about it to consider myself any sort of expert on any of the tunes.

With the email exchange, Jamie stated that there should not be any tweaking required, as the tune is that good. If there are issues with your X running right there is something else wrong.  With that, I'd guess if you were to put your old OEM tune back into your bike.... it still would not run correctly...

Let me know
