Buying and Exporting outside of the USA.

If you plan to buy an Excelsior-Henderson motorcycle and export it to your country, here are some points to consider.

The bill of sale must state the amount you paid for the bike and the currency. USD
The owners name and address
The date of the sale

US customs requires an EIN. Employee Identification number. If you buy from a business they will likely have an EIN
If you buy from a private seller they can apply for an EIN on the IRS site using their S.S. Number to obtain it. I’m told it’s an easy process.
They must sign the bill of sale as well
You will need the Title for the motorcycle
The Title and the bill of sale likely will be required to be with the motorcycle when it passes the border. Check trucking company requirements
A list of all extra parts and accessories that are loose in the bike and or traveling with bike must be declared with a value of each piece declared
You will need to hire a broker to send the documentation to the port where the bike will leave the country 72 hrs before the bike crosses the border

For Canadians
The Excelsior-Henderson bikes were never approved for import into Canada but can now be imported as a vintage vehicle over 15 years old
There is no duty to pay as motorcycles were the first part of the Free Trade Agreement
You will have to pay for the taxes on the purchase price (converted to Canadian dollars) based on your province of residence
IE 5% GST for Canadian government plus your provincial tax

Good luck
