Factory Engineering Drawings
« on: October 11, 2023, 02:12:22 AM »
I won this on eBay maybe six months ago. I really wanted to see the images inside and figured all my Super X friends would want to as well. Merry Christmas! Now you don't have to spend whatever I paid for this and it will be here for you to admire for free.

It's a comb bound document, not dated but, pretty clearly from before the bikes had been revealed. It's labeled CONFIDENTIAL and I'm disclosing it here, without Dan Hanlon's permission. I expect he will sue me any time now for revealing the secrets from within.

If anyone else has old engineering drawings to share, could you dig them out and either scan or take a snap with your phone and post them here? We can all start to assemble some of the great history that was lost all those years ago.

Cool stuff man, thanks for sharing. Doubt anyone will get sued for this since most of the patents have expired, don't think the trademarks have. Anyhow these are a cool piece of history and EHParts.net has reproduced one of these which is hanging on my wall.

These images are different. The views of the bike have the engine removed. The views of the engine internals are assembled, not exploded like the parts books. There are visible details of the innards of the bike we could only picture in our head without these.

Yes, reading some of those features in the bullets was interesting for sure. It's funny that you mentioned the turn signals. I was just going through all the wires on the turn signal module because one of my bikes has a strange behavior. It does have a wire going to the road speed sensor. The module knows if and how far we've traveled. All I can figure is it was lost in the programming of the module. Or maybe the manufacturer wanted extra to turn on that feature and it got lost during the cost-reduction phase.

My Jennie's hazard switch doesn't do anything, regardless of position. The other thing is the module flashes the lights 6-8 times every time I switch it on, as if to say, "Look at me!" The signals work normally otherwise. One of these days when the tank is off and I remember, I might swap modules with another bike.

I have about 100 pages of engineering drawings also.... I too find all of these early drawings super cool and interesting. Mine are also not dated. But do include engineering boxes in the corners.
Frank I agree, that one EHparts.net had made up is awesome. Its hanging in my "work out room".....
I also purchased from Waz years ago early color drawings of what the bike was supposed to look like.  Pretty cool early ideas. I'll see if I'm bright enough to figure out how to get them on here. This sites "attachments" program and I don't get a long for what ever reason.

Wow, those are insane. That's the Deadwood proposal for the graphics and colors? Another obviously seems to be the American X graphic. I wonder how close to final the others were. The Vikings Bike...

Thanks for sharing those.

Was out on the Jennie today. The turn signals cancel after some calculated distance. It's hard keeping track of features on the different bikes. I was wrong above. Yours don't self-cancel?
