Sorry buddy.... that definitely wasn't my intent....

nothing doesn't say the you can't contact John Jones or Jamie/Marty.... and ask them what has all been done to that vin number. They keep records of that sort of thing....

And believe me I totally understand timelines and cash flow.... I've had 525 since 9/12/01. I finally got the pickup tube done this past winter. The KN aircleaner the winter before... 2 winters before that... superxtune. etc. etc. .... first biggie was the tranny... and I had put 5k on her before that was done...

Got pretty silly for a while... folks bringing their X's to my place, with cash in hand for parts..... and I'd install them.... yet my bike wasn't complete.... hee hee hee....
gotta do whatcha gotta do.... when you can.

Nah, I was just kidding. If it needs it, it needs it. I appreciate the candor and insight. I didn't know the first owner, nor the work done by the second owner.

Some of the things I found on this Jennie were scary so, it's best to assume the worst and plan on fixing it or at least inspecting it.

Now would really be the time to tear into 1525 though. The primary needs to come off to do the clutch slave correctly. The exhaust and belt cover are already off and the belt is slack. The timing and pump covers are off so I could get in to do the oil pickup tube. I want to get it running again but, it's so easy to do it all right at this point...

Realizing the time attached to your post.... just to correct you...I know at that time I find it hard to drool on purpose.
that pickup tube is installed behind the primary. But if you got that timing cover off, and pump... you may want to put on a new shim (teflon plasticy one)

good luck buddy... and we're here to help..

What a fantastic read, and gorgeous Jenny.  I just bought mine two weeks ago from a member here.  I had to pull it home on a U-Haul trailer with my gutless 1987 Toyota 4cyl 4runner.  I was so elated to finally have the bike I had dreamt of for 15 years that the trouble of getting it became enjoyable.  Unfortunately I've been working away from home and I haven't been able to ride yet.  It is tearing me apart.

I never expected to be able to land a Jenny, and I can't think of any other bike I could ever want.  Would love to meet up on a ride some time.

That's cool Bruce.  It was a ton of fun talking earlier today.  I don't expect the novelty to ever wear off of finally getting my Super X.  I'm just so stoked, they're such awesome bikes
