MD,
This is the best price I've seen around for the rear pads, though I can't vouch for the quality:

All good comments.

A little history here might be interesting.  Our first running engines were the hand-machined and cast engines made by the engine design firm of Weslake Motors in England. These motors we ran on dynos and test bikes for countless thousands of miles by our test riders and dyno operators.

1) Never blew up an engine...

2) Never puked oil...

Well, in the world of engineering design, you move from design to prototypes and then production. Something along the way changed on the road to production. Of course in any product evolution there are changes learned from the prototypes that get incorporated into the production series. If you look at our Weslake engines compared to the production engines, there are no interchangeable parts however they are similar. We did swap the front/rear cylinder configuration--production engines the rear cylinder is inward and Weslake engines the rear cylinder is right outward.

Somehow or another, all these little changes, caused some things we did not expect nor forecast...the oil puking. These production engines are sensitive to the oil level. Since I know this, have never had an engine puke in 35,000 miles of riding on countless different bikes. Most of mine still have the stock breather location too (not all though as do like to experiment too).

Generally the rule of thumb is check oil level properly as instructed, and next steps are to have the oil pickup tube installed. Some aftermarket pickup tubes have failed too where the solder came loose on the tube and the tube spins up out of the way...not good either...

So, like a lot of mechanical items...moments of joy and heartbreak...and no two alike even if you wanted them to be.  I guess that's called character.

I think this would be a good place to also mention that HD, also had a significant oil puke issue far a number of years.....
I bring this up for those that don't know.... It isn't an issue singular to X's...
