Tire Size
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:52:26 AM »
I need to replace the front and rear tires. Does anybody have a recommendation on brand and fitment? I know that the stock front tire was the Dunlop MT90b, but any recommendations would be great

This kind of question often leads to as many responses are there are brands of tire.  I put Metzler ME880 wide whites on my Jennie 2 years ago and like them.

On previous bikes, I've had good service from Avon tires.

yes, what John said, many options and opinions. I've had good luck with Avons as well, been running Dunlops and after some reading and research I'm about to put a set of Michelin's on my touring bike.

130-90-16 for the front /MT90-16 is the same.... 140-90-16 / MU90-16 for the rear... I just put a 150-80-16 on S/N 1409.... If your doing alot of riding... Dunlop Elite III seems to be good for about 12-16 thousand miles. They are a harder compound so your ride might be a bit stiffer...
The Avon Venom X WWW is a softer compound and you can get 6-8 thousand out of them as well as a smoother ride and better wet handling.
I have had Metzlers, Avon and Dunlop on the X's. Wide white walls look good but are a pain to keep clean if you ride year round.  Michelin, Pirelli and Continental's are brands I don't have any experience with...

I have tried several tires on my Harley and now the X, I had best results with the Avon Cobras but now have Michelin Commander II's on both bikes. They have great performance....we will see on durability as the season progresses
