woody....
Your challenge has been many done times over the years... on other web sites dealing with our orphan bikes...
So I'm guessing that is why such a slow response.....

question to ask your self..... are you buying an super X for an investment or a rider.
if investing.... your return is not going to be staggering to say the least. But I must admit in my interpetation of current prices, there has been an upswing.... modest, but it seems to be there...

if a rider....    Hopefully you have skills enough to help yourself, or close enough to someone who can help, if your bike has issues.
This is a very interesting note, as over the years with all the fixes us owners and vendors have come up with.... our bikes are just as dependable as anything else out there. Each year they appear to be better and better. I've noticed that if there are any issues NOW... its usually due to age and or milage. Which is a great thing ......
I noticed in Sept. when 3 out of staters pulled into my yard .... all with no problems. 10 years ago.... that'd been hard to imagine.
Having skills is nice.... Us X owners are a great community, that truly love to help each other out. A lot have come and gone.... but there is still a core group that try to particapate in all events, and post here and the yahoo site when possible.   I'd estimate the core group to be around 100+. Plus another 100 in the background that are willing to help, and particapate also.  I'm an old knothead.... and for what ever reason, I get along with pretty much all of them, so thats saying a lot.

Then there is also a large group of "Owners"....    they come and go occassionally. Asking questions here and there. May show up at a get together. We love them all. Its fun when you get around folks that also have the same interests.

As for the machine....
nothing else like it..
Wonderful ride.... i'm not just saying that.... its true...
can't go anywhere's without someone at least noticing... usually will want to talk.
Very retro .... almost an artdeco look to them..
Rare.... only 1952 built... in this day and age, that's rare.
U.S. built...  that's pretty cool especially for the era....

Here are some suggestions when shopping.
find out which if any updates have been done. They may sound silly or redundant or miniscule.... they aren't, they are important to the life of that bike, and your safety.  Many on the market have most if not all updates done. Make sure that owner can prove it too. If you have skills, you can do most of them for under 2k. If you wish a vendor to do it..... PLUS the top to bottom work over..... 6k+.

There are still plenty of virgin bikes out there, just keep in mind, if you want to ride it, you will have to get this stuff done .....

Any questions? .... I don't know your tastes in 2 wheels ..... but these X's are pretty spectacular.....  We have 3 in our family, and you may notice that several owners have multiple X's in their stables... that's how much they like them. That says a lot....

feel free to ask us about any X you are looking at... odds are pretty good we may know something about it..... same with the vendors, if they know the bike, they'll let you know...

Nils Anderson in sweden probably has a few for sale... usually does.
Anyone reading along have his link?
Jonny Peterson would probably be more than helpful (also from sweden).

There are a few X's over on your side of the pond... You can check the Registy for what countries... Nils up in Sweden has imported quite a few!!
