disorganized Laughlin run
« on: April 26, 2015, 03:35:41 PM »
Well, I hate to bitch, but this Laughlin EH run SUCKED! No organizing whatsoever. No "meet or greet" time or location for people to get to know each other and see other's bike's or swap lie's ,etc. I left message's on this site, my phone numbers, offered help if needed/wanted. I had 2 of my bikes to bring cleaned and polished to add to the numbers. At least my son and I had a great time going to Oatman and Laughlin and riding the EH's and hanging out together. For month's I looked forward to this EH  run, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT ! Felt like this is some type of "clique" or secret society and we weren't welcome. Next time I'll pass.

:( Sorry we never connected with you. Jeff and I posted our phone numbers and I had hoped you'd call one of us. We also posted where we would be staying in Kingman. I see now that you posted your number as well on Tuesday, but I was busy getting ready and did not check the web site.
Mike, please remember this is our first attempt at this sort of gathering, and a learning experience for all of us. We would like to make this an annual event, and perhaps you could help us improve how we do it next year, especially since you live in the area. Please don't condemn us, help us!
On a positive note, we did connect with Keith from Long Beach, and Doug from Lancaster. They contacted us and we met with Keith in Oatman, and Doug in Laughlin. It sounds like we need to create a better communication tool besides simply posting phone numbers.
I hope you will forgive us and assist us.

Regards,
   Mike

I just feel this wasn't very well organized. There was a mention of helping a Mike Locklear getting "set up" and I assumed that he was the host or point man and he would inform everyone a meeting time and place to discuss any runs or other activities. Every run I've attended has always done this to get everyone on the same page (example: "We will be meeting @ 8-9 am in room 35 or at Denny's  to discuss weekend activities or suggestions"). Or put on website "We will be leaving Ramada parking lot on Saturday for Oatman promptly @9;00 am". I guess I expected more since this club has done other gatherings @ Daytona, Sturgis, Maggie Valley, Minnesota, etc. I just thought more info would be on website since so much chatter had been on it for a few month's. I'll give it another chance next year or if any "local's" are interested maybe doing our own run somewhere and not one where we hope to bump into one another.   Mike

Yes, the turn out was small compared to some rallies. We will improve next year, even if the numbers are still low. I've got a few ideas to bounce off of Mike Locklear that should make it better. Kingman seems to be an ideal location, so we'll be back.
