Oh, I see, you just put a pressure gauge on a T with the low pressure switch.  Haven't had my tea yet so I was thinking you meant temp gauge there.  My misunderstanding.

Elegant install: simple and effective. And not necessary to dump the oil to install.

Right, I have just an oil pressure gauge.  I may add a setup similar to 2coolwheels at some point to monitor oil temp.

Thanks for the compliment, but the design isn't mine.  A fellow Xer from Indiana named Jim came up with it.

With my setup, I have seen the oil pressure increase after I turn the fan on.  That seems to indicate the fan is doing a good job of taking some heat out of the oil, since thicker oil will have higher pressure.

It was mentioned earlier in this discussion that a couple of inexpensive computer cooling fans were working on the oil cooler.  How do they handle getting wet?

Mike (2coolwheels) came up with that ideaof the computer fans ..... way back...
those fans apparently haven't created any problems so far, even in wet weather... Mike can give more detail when he reads this...

Rich (blackheart).....    we found in the early days that that front fender does indeed block a lot of air motion....
no one to this point that I know of has done a wind tunnel test. But I think I heard back in the day someone tied ribbons in different spots on their X, to see what kind of air motion to different areas. I don't remember the results, as I believe that was pretty close to the same time the fan assisted oil coolers were being created.

I think I've mentioned it before. I installed those computer fans probably in 2013, and they have come on every time, even after rain, dust, heat and cold. I was pleasantly surprised at how durable they are.
