Tubeless stock wheels

Just an FYI   ...O.C. Jerry had an idea ...so we took stock wheels , make sure the nipples are snug ,cleaned the inside of rims with acetone with tooth brush ...coat the tops of nipples with polyurathane windshield sealer/adhesive (black shit) ,1st coat force around nipples with finger,2nd coat over lap 1st coat. (thick)...you will have to buy a new valve ...Jerry and I did this a year ago...before Maggie Valley ...he has not lost any pressure ..since then    c-ya  berlin  bob

Bob, I don't want to sound like I'm being overly cautious but, that can be very risky with our conventional tube-type rims.

The center of a tubeless rim has a shoulder that our spoked rims don't have. What it does is keep the bead more or less seated if the tire loses pressure.

Just sealing the spoked rim, you could still hit a deep pothole, and the force could momentarily gap the bead from the rim. I mean--I hear ya'--tubless tires are a lot more convenient if they pick up a nail but, I personally wouldn't risk it. YMMV.

It has been a year so far for jerry ??... you can still put a tubless tire with a tube on the wheel... and it still works...whats to say if ya hit a hole then ... you are still ****ed ...if ya trash the tube ...the seals work both ways  ...just my 2 cents

I wasn't talking about hitting a hole deep enough to pinch a tube. I'm talking about just about ANY gap from the bead losing contact momentarily with the rim (because it doesn't have the right lip to hold it in place). The tire would lose air instantly--POP!

I always plan for the failure that is the most forgiving. A tube going flat would happen quickly but, nothing like a tubeless tire gapping and blowing all the air out at once.

This is actually a popular upgrade for my off road friends over the Adventure Rider board. When you're in the middle of nowhere and pick up a puncture you don't want to be laying the bike down, pulling the tire and patching the tube. I did this to my old HD before a long road trip with good results as well. All that said, I don't know enough about EH wheels to know if it would be safe and Donkey may have a valid point.

The wheels were made by BEHR as well as our gas tanks in Germany... Not that this has any bearing on anything... I just like spouting my vast knowledge of things X!!!
